Excess Seed Oils Impair Thyroid Function
Seed oils are packed with Omega 6s.
So why is that a problem??
We get far too much Omega 6s as it is and not nearly enough Omega 3s.
A healthy ratio is 1:1, but we are getting 20:1 on average and that is not a good thing.
The other downside to seed oils - which are polyunsaturated oils is that they hijack the thyroid hormone transport protein which means there is no room for thyroid hormone to get on board. Result - lowered thyroid production.
So avoid all the supposedly healthy oils such as sunflower, safflower, canola etc where you can to reduce the ratio, and let your thyroid hormone get to where it needs to be.
