Diet Cola Impairs Thyroid Function
In the year prior to my thyroid "hitting the road" I had been living on Hamilton Island in QLD (I know, awesome right?) I had been trying to lose weight and ended up LIVING off diet coke. Like 10 cans a day.
Now diet coke contains Aspartame as the sweetener. Let's have a look at that ingredient.

👉🏼 May contribute to fibromyalgia
👉🏼 Increased risk of kidney disease
So did I lose weight just drinking this? No. And although I cannot directly blame my liquid diet for my thyroid issues, I definitely don't dismiss it as a major contributor.
Over the years, after becoming a naturopath, I discovered many of my thyroid clients were also die-hard fans of diet drinks and sweeteners and it was and is always the first thing I try to convince them to change in their daily lifestyle.
I find it is always the little things that we do often that both help our thyroid or hurt our thyroid. Not the one off's.
