Deodorant Lowers Thyroid Function
Deodorant impairs our thyroid in 2 ways.
Firstly, one of the active ingredients to stop the smell and sweat is Aluminium, which can cause mood swings, irritability in our brain and depletes calcium in our joints.
Secondly, it is actually designed to stop toxins getting out. That means they will recycle in the body which puts a larger burden on our liver. We need a healthy liver to be able to convert our thyroid hormone into its active form.
So, while I understand there are times you can't go without it, I suggest a balance.
When you are home, don't wear anything - or use half a lime wiped over your armpit (works quite well). And when you have to be social or fancy, wear deodorant.
Balance in all things I believe, and when I find a natural deodorant that works for me, I will be happy, but so far none I love (yes even the crystal sticks don't really do it for me).
