Carbohydrates Impair Thyroid Function

Carbohydrates..... oh how I love thee Carbohydrates ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰

The problems with carbohydrates are that they are essentially sugar or glucose.

And eating sugar creates an insulin surge.

Insulin surges attack the thyroid. 

So if I am going to be tempted by a big bowl of pasta or something else high in carbs I always remind myself that it will directly impair my thyroid and do I really want to do that?

Let's keep in mind that not all carbs are created equal and that wholegrain carbs have a lesser affect on insulin than the refined ones do.

So perhaps our starting point for reducing these pesky, yummy food types is to lower the amount of "white" carbs we eat.

๐Ÿ˜ณWhite crackers

Now, I know many people do, but I personally never include Potato in that "white" category.

Why? Because it is a vegetable and it is really high in Potassium that our thyroid needs. But that is up to you if you include it or not.
